Yes, what I find brilliant about this simple poem is, well, 1. it is funny and I would love to see a pair of sweatpants that said that, but 2. how it brings together desire and despair, hope and longing–and where is it found–in carnal love, in god, either of which could or could not exist at all (for that person), could be found or never found at all, as intimated in this poem. 3. it represents our bizarre American commercial culture that seems so bent on “ass” while also being over-the-top religious and presents both in such a kitschy, shallow, impotent, and therefore desperate, way (our commercial culture presents them (sex and spirituality) that way, that is).
“Reebok” is Aramaic for “Jesus”
